Yikes - it's a 4:00 am wake-up call. Not a great way to start the day, but we got moving, put the bags out and joined the gang for our last meal on board La Arapaima, which was now docked in Iquitos. We then loaded on a bus and went to the airport for our flight to Lima. We said our good-byes to our most excellent guide and naturalist and went on our way.
We arrived in Lima around 9:00 am with LOTS of time to kill - the flight to Miami didn't leave til around midnight. OAT provided everyone with day rooms at the hotel, so we could take a nap, a shower, change clothes, whatever. OAT had also arranged for us to have lunch at the same restaurant where all this started - for some of our group it was a challenge to remember exactly where it was! We had plenty of time to wander around the neighborhood, revisit the grocery store and walk over to the waterfront for a last look at the Pacific Ocean. It wasn't unpleasant, but we all agreed that we'd rather be in the rainforest!
